Jonas takes on Windermere
Streamliner Jonas Coene from Belgium is returning to the UK this weekend for his second ever swim in Windermere.
He took on the 11 mile (as set out at the event at the time) long end to end swim last year, doing just breaststroke. Which he finished in an astonishing 5h57m55s.
This year, he is wanting to do better. This time, he is looking to beat the Windermere breaststroke record of 5h45h15s, set by Alan Turk in 1987.
Until April of this year, Jonas had never complemented his swim training with any strength work. So we built a plan and got to work.
And to say Jonas has put in the hard work is an understatement! His training has been super consistent, working around a full time job and a commitment to walk 10000 steps every day, on top of his normal swim training!
His recent gold and silver medal at the Belgian open water championships are a testament of his hard work and have shown clear improvement from last year! Fingers crossed that trend continues into this week!
